A landscaping company might want design-build projects, recurring lawn care, or commercial grounds contracts. An AEO strategy needs to reflect which of those customers the company actually serves. We asked 11 AI platforms which agencies they would name for landscaping companies and recorded the names and cited pages.

We asked 11 AI platforms the same question: “who are the best AEO agencies for landscaping companies?” All 11 returned an answer on October 3, 2026 (UTC). We recorded the agency names and the pages cited, then combined aliases and separated identifiable agency businesses from software, individuals, client examples, and names we could not confirm.

Answer engine optimization (AEO) helps a business become visible in AI-generated answers. This report measures agency mentions in one capture. It does not evaluate service quality, verify claims made by the AI answers, or predict campaign results.

Rankability is software, not an agency. This is an industry edition of our SaaS AEO agency research. The two reports use different capture dates; this edition ranks by platform coverage because this export does not include structured mention positions for every agency.

Key findings

  1. Landscape Leadership led platform coverage. It was named by 7 of 11 platforms. No agency in the identified roster appeared in all 11.
  2. The identified roster contains 33 agencies. They account for 78 distinct agency/platform pairs. 16 appeared on only one platform. Names without a confirmed agency identity are excluded from these totals.
  3. The answers produced different-sized shortlists. Gemini named 18 agencies in the roster; ChatGPT named 0. These counts describe this capture, not a platform’s overall quality or difficulty.
  4. The citation pool contains 68 distinct pages. The most widely cited page was on bluelinks.agency, appearing in 6 platform citation lists. A citation to a page is different from a mention of the agency that published it.

A broad landscape shortlist needs a narrower client brief

The agency names below come from one hiring question. They do not establish which firms have delivered the landscape projects or maintenance contracts you need. Review the work behind an agency’s industry claims before treating its appearance as evidence of fit.

This baseline can support later comparisons as the agency landscape changes. Repeated names across verticals do not establish that an agency is a specialist—or that a lack of specialists caused its inclusion. For a client campaign, compare answers about the actual services, locations, and project requirements.

The leaderboard

The first 16 agencies below are sorted by distinct platform coverage. Coverage is the number of captured platform answers naming the agency divided by 11. Equal counts share a rank and are displayed alphabetically. If a tie crosses the 16-row boundary, alphabetical order determines which tied names appear here; the full roster is linked below. This is an AI visibility comparison, not a ranking of agency capabilities.

Which platforms name which agencies

ChatGPT capture limitation: the saved ChatGPT record contains an answer and citations but no extracted agency labels. We retain it in the 11-platform denominator and report zero identifiable agencies for that record. This does not establish that ChatGPT never recommends agencies for this industry.

The first 10 agencies in the leaderboard across all 11 captured platforms. ✓ means the recorded entity list names the agency; ✕ means it does not. An ✕ applies only to this capture. Scroll horizontally to see every column.

What the cited pages show

Across the 11 answers, we recorded 68 distinct cited pages. The table shows the 10 cited by the most platforms, with ties ordered by URL. A page can discuss several agencies, and its publisher may not be named in the answer. Citation counts therefore do not substitute for agency coverage.

View all 68 captured source URLs

These links come from the export. Display labels use the captured titles, with URL-derived labels when a title is missing or is a placeholder. The JSON and source CSV preserve the original titles. This is not an independent evaluation of every page. Pages may change or disappear after capture. A source’s inclusion does not establish that its claims are accurate.

Agency-owned roundups and mentions

For an additional check, we matched cited domains to the known agency websites in this roster. We then selected titles or URL paths that identify a “best” or “top” agency, company, firm, or consultant list. This is a title/URL classification, not a full editorial review of the pages. The table includes only matched agency-owned roundup pages; unmatched domains are not assigned an owner.

The last column counts the intersection of the two platform sets. An overlap is an association in this capture. It does not show that the roundup caused a recommendation. The downloadable JSON includes the matched URLs and platform sets.

How to evaluate an AEO partner

Start with the company’s revenue priorities. A design-build firm, a lawn-care operator, and a commercial maintenance provider need different examples, questions, and lead qualification.

Evidence to request before hiring

Evidence to request before hiring
PriorityEvidence to requestOutcome to measure
Service and customer mixA plan that separates design, hardscaping, lawn care, irrigation, and commercial work as relevantSuitable opportunities by service and customer type
Portfolio and local contextReal project examples with locations, materials, scope, and client-approved imagesClear evidence supporting the company’s actual work
Project qualificationDefined service area, project criteria, consultation process, and inquiry routingQualified consultations and opportunities, rather than all forms
Commercial and seasonal workSeparate content for property managers, grounds maintenance, and relevant seasonal needsOpportunities that match contracts, locations, and capacity

Match the campaign to the work you want

Ask how the agency will distinguish residential design projects from lawn care and commercial grounds maintenance. If hardscaping, irrigation, or outdoor living is part of the offer, the plan should explain those services without implying that the company provides every possible landscape service.

Use the company’s real portfolio

Ask who will supply project photographs, material information, and scope details, and who will approve them. A project gallery is more useful when a buyer can understand the work and where it was completed. Keep client permissions and privacy requirements clear before publishing project details.

Define a qualified landscape opportunity

Agree on the geography, service type, project requirements, and consultation process that make an inquiry useful. Report commercial opportunities separately from residential projects and recurring maintenance. Compare those outcomes with visibility over time without assuming that AI mentions caused every inquiry.

Example client questions to track

These are example questions for a client baseline. They were not measured in the October 3 agency-hiring study. Replace the placeholders with the client’s actual services and locations.

  • Which landscape designers serve [city]?
  • Who builds paver patios in [service area]?
  • Which companies provide commercial grounds maintenance in [city]?
  • What affects the cost of a landscaping project in [region]?
  • Who handles irrigation installation for [property type] in [city]?

What this means if you run an agency

For agencies serving landscapers, define the client’s service mix before building the prompt set. The most useful report shows which competitors and pages appear for the work that the client wants to win.

  1. Separate projects from recurring services. Give design, hardscaping, lawn care, and commercial maintenance their own relevant questions. Use the locations and customer types the client actually serves.
  2. Connect questions with project evidence. Review portfolio galleries, material explainers, service pages, and location accuracy. Our AI search visibility checklist helps organize the review.
  3. Keep lead quality visible. Pair platform mentions and cited URLs with suitable consultations and pipeline reporting. Preserve the same prompt set and capture dates to compare future changes.

Methodology

Capture settings

  • Prompt: “who are the best AEO agencies for landscaping companies”
  • Capture date: October 3, 2026 (UTC). Exact timestamps and saved-record provenance are retained in the downloadable JSON.
  • Coverage: one recorded answer from each of 11 platforms.
  • Source: saved Rankability Tracker answers captured October 3, 2026 and retrieved through the Rankability MCP on October 6, 2026. No new scan was run for this article.
  • Language: the captured answers are in English. No location was configured for this broad agency-hiring prompt. Exact model versions and personalization settings are not supplied in the saved results, so we do not assume them.

Agency identification and name cleanup

We use Tracker’s detected-brand labels and sentiment records, excluding records explicitly marked as not mentioned, cross-check agency identities against official business websites, and combine known aliases. The roster includes identifiable marketing service businesses; software-only labels, individuals, client examples, and unresolved identities are excluded. We do not assume that an AI description of an agency’s expertise is true. Some provider answer text does not preserve every visible name or link; the recorded entity labels are retained with the original answer text so readers can inspect that limitation.

This report excludes 22 distinct canonical entity names, including 12 whose agency identity was not confirmed. The excluded-entity CSV records each excluded label, platform, reason, and saved-record reference. Excluded names are not included in the agency or mention totals. The counts are therefore specific to the identified roster, not an exhaustive count of all marketing businesses that may be represented in the raw answers.

Aliases combined in this capture:

  • Thrive Internet Marketing Agency: Thrive, Thrive Internet Marketing Agency.
  • RYNO Strategic Solutions: Blue Corona.
  • ClickTrack Marketing: Click Track Marketing.

Metrics and ties

  • Platforms naming an agency: the number of distinct platform entity lists containing its normalized name. Repeated names and aliases within one platform count once.
  • Visibility: platform count ÷ 11 × 100, rounded to the nearest whole percent.
  • Agency/platform mentions: the sum of platform counts across the identified roster; this is not the number of repeated text mentions.
  • Rank: descending platform coverage, with equal coverage sharing rank. Names within a tie appear alphabetically.
  • Cited pages: distinct recorded URL strings across the answer citation lists and consolidated citation records. Equivalent URLs with different strings are not silently merged.
  • Mention positions and scores: not reported. The saved export’s tracked-brand position field is not structured agency-position data. The source citation score is also not an agency score.

Editorial research update

On October 8, 2026, we used supplemental entity research collected on October 6 to refine the partner-selection questions and client examples. That research has limited topic coverage and supplies editorial context, not an independent agency qualification study. The October 3 answers, roster, counts, and cited URLs remain the measurement baseline.

Limitations

This is one question, one capture date, and one recorded answer per platform. Answers can change with time, model, settings, and user context. The study does not measure hiring suitability, customer satisfaction, lead volume, service quality, or the accuracy of every recommendation. Agency identification and alias choices affect the roster. Missing or unresolved identities can change the ranking if confirmed later. Citations and mentions describe co-occurrence; they do not establish causation.
